The end of America might seem distant to the average person, but a growing number of mainstream experts are predicting the American Empire will be coming down much sooner than expected. Most of these predictions center around the year 2050, but some are much closer.

In 2011, Pat Buchanan, a senior adviser for presidents Nixon, Ford, and Reagan, published a book entitled 'Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025?' In his preface, Buchanan answered his title question in the negative: "The last decade [2002 - 2011] has provided corroborative if not conclusive proof that we are in the Indian summer of our civilization." [1]

In 2010, Salon Magazine published an article entitled 'How America will collapse (by 2025).' The article began:
"A soft landing for America 40 years from now? Don’t bet on it. The demise of the United States as the global superpower could come far more quickly than anyone imagines. If Washington is dreaming of 2040 or 2050 as the end of the American Century, a more realistic assessment of domestic and global trends suggests that in 2025, just 15 years from now, it could all be over except for the shouting." [2]
In October 2013, congressman, physician, and presidential candidate Ron Paul predicted America was headed for the same fate as the Soviet Union. He said: "In the next several years, you're going to see a big, big collapse." When asked about the timing, he said the "big event could occur next week, or five years from now;" not exactly a reassuring spread. [3]

In October 2012, the Washington Times ran a commentary article predicting that "there is a very large possibility that the real end of the world will occur around March 4, 2014," and explained the American economy was set to collapse. [4]

In 2013, Forbes ran an article in which contributor Eamonn Fingleton foresaw an apocalyptic end for the US dollar. He predicted a timeline for its collapse: "the dollar may well continue to defy the law of gravity for a while longer but let’s see how things have shaped up by, say, the end of 2014." In another section he offers: "My bet is that within five years the dollar will have gone the way of the pound sterling, if not the Weimar papiermark." [5] [6]

Among the most eye opening is the New York Time's Bestselling author Mark Steyn's latest book 'After America: Get Ready for Armageddon.' Steyn has been called "the greatest social commentator alive." In his book, Steyn so clearly exposes the decadence of the America system that it becomes impossible for any rational thinker to believe America could last until 2050.

In Steyn's words: "we are approaching the end of the Anglo-American moment, and the eclipse of the powers that built the modern world." [7]
